Planer jig for bowed and twisted wood.
A while back, I had seen a free video posted on one of the woodworking
magazine websites of a jig that a gentleman was using to flattn bowed
and twisted boards with his planer.
It was basically a long bed that the board layed on with screws that
could be adjusted upward from the base of the jig to support the wood
at all points, even where the cup or twist created gaps between the
surface of the jig and the bottom of the board.
The length of the jig combined with the complete support of the board
allowed him to flatten the top of the board and, subsequently, to be
able to flip it over and do the same to the other side using the bed
of his planer, leaving a perfectly flat board.
I’ve done a fair bit of digging but I cannot find the original link,
a proper name or anything even remotely like it anywhere.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
