I have a Delta 13 inch planer thats pretty new. I couldn’t have run more than a hundred baord feed through it and its suddenly giving me a problem feeding boards.
It used to work extremely well, now alot of the time it will pinch the board and not feed it through. I’m not using too aggressive a cut (if I raise the knives any higher it doesn’t take any material off at all really) so I’m not sure whats going on here….
Is this due to dirty rollers? or is there some other maintenance I have to do to get it back to 100% working order?
Thanks for the suggestions

This problem comes up frequently in the forums, and at least 95% of the time, it's due to dirty rollers! Take some household cleaner such as Simple Green, 409, or even the household wipes (Mr. Clean, or the Costco Kirkland brand) and clean the rollers. No need to use any solvents. You need to unplug/plug/unplug when you kick the motor on to turn the rollers, to make sure you get all the surface.
While you're at it, wax the table. Never hurts. You'll be able to feel the difference between the dirty roller and the clean roller, by the way.

FG has given you good info. Also check for knife sharpness, depending on lumber cleaness and species, those can take a toll quicker than you might think. Whats not aggressive to you ? I generally take 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a pass on wide stock and 1/2 to 1 turn on 3" or less stock. Ditto the wax.

Good point on knife sharpness. Thanks for "I generally take 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a pass on wide stock and 1/2 to 1 turn on 3" or less stock." That's about what I do, often feeling like a ninny "too cautious" or whatever. No more! From now on, I'll just feel smart, LOL.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yes Ma'am, I don't like to crowd my tools or equipment. Sharp everything makes life easier. Though I Wish I could hone up the gray matter sometimes.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

My Delta planer does the same thing, and cleaning the rollers and wax has always been the fix for feeding problems. The knives on mine are high speed steel, so they dull rather quickly on some kinds of wood, so I have to deal with that also.
