Hi all,
I started making Keith Rust’s planer sled featured in FW a while back (see pic). I built the base/torsion box (1’x5′), but it somehow got a very small twist in it. I bought 1/2″ baltic birch plywood for this project and it wasn’t perfectly flat when I got it, but I thought the torsion box configuration would resolve it. So the sled rocks at the opposing corners about about 1/8″ or less over its 5 foot length.
So my question is, do I start over again? Or is it good enough?
Any other advice for this newbie is greatly welcomed.
Thanks,
Dennis

Solution
Start again with flat stock or add some skid rails to the bottom and hand plane then till the upper surface is running true to the planer knives.
Starting again would probably be quicker, but the rails can always be tweeked to accomodate for season warpage from humidity.
