I finally took the plunge and bought the DeWalt 735. Good deal @ Lowe’s; 15% off; + they also matched ( a Home Depot Promo) an additional 10% off for first purchase on a new credit card, with 12 months no interest. So I’ve got 12 months to pay with no interest and 25% off.
My question is; Has anyone made the planer table jig by Andy Beasley in FWW issue #183 ? If so are you happy with the result? Thinking of making one; before I get started using the planer. However it’s not easy finding 1/2″ MDF around here. Neither Home Depot or Lowe’s carry it.

I would use the planer for a while before you build such a table; I suspect you'll find you don't need it.
If you do build one, regular 3/4" MDF will work just as well, and probably better than 1/2"

Yeah, I made that planer table. I'm running a Delta portable planer like he shows in the article. I bolted the whole assembly to a 5-foot long banquet table I picked up for free. Instead of using a sheet of MDF like the article shows, I used a piece of 1"x12"x5' melamine shelf material. I figured the surface would be more durable and slippery than MDF.
Now for the performance part: I went from using the stock infeed/outfeed tables and getting snipe on the trailing end of my stock to using the long bed system and getting snipe on both ends of my stock. I started out using the 1/8" of rise as recommended in the article. After the above results, I flattened the table out completely. Now I only get snipe on the trailing end and it isn't as severe. I need to run some more wood through it and make adjustments, but I'm not sure where to start now. Has anyone else got this system to work properly?
Thanks everyone!
I just purchased the accessory extensions from Amazon.com; it has fatastic reviews by the users.
That's good enough for me!
