Yo knotheads,
I’m starting to build 4 podiums shortly. I have some plans and today I looked at what they are presently using . I don’t really like either and was wondering if anyone has plans for a podium with a historical look -a Greene and Greene style podium if you will…
Thanks,
silver

My condo association has a small meeting room and they would like me to make a podium. I am looking for plans to podiums that would suit our small room. Where can I find some plans to consider for the project? Lars Larsen
Several years ago I made a podium for meeting room at Taunton Press, the publisher of Fine Woodworking Magazine. I don't have plans or a picture, but I added one detail that proved very useful.I made a low, maybe six inches high, platform that slipped in under the bottom shelf of the cabinet. The platform could be pulled out to stand on if needed and allowed people who were shorter than average to use the podium comfortably and not be half hidden from the audience. The feature got a lot of favorable comments.John White

Hi! Thanks for the great IDEA! We have some height challenged ladies in the group that would use the podium and your idea would be very useful. Thanks! Lars Larsen
You are welcome, I'm glad I could help. It seems like you have gotten several suggestions to build a pedestal style unit. To keep the job simple, and to provide room for the step, I would build it as a simple cabinet, little more than a kitchen counter base cabinet with a sloped top. I would think that something around 20 inches square for the base, with a 30 degree slope for the top, would be a good start.John White

Attached is a link to a picture of a podium with a solution similiar the the one John White mentions above. It was designed and constructed by fellow classmates at the at the New England School of Architectural Woodworking last year.

Maybe something like this? I don't have a set of plans, just a few quick sketches I made to help with the design and proportions.
It's actually about ten separate pieces. There is a 3/8" threaded rod through the center that holds most of it together.

Really nice Bob. WOW!
I always wanted to move to Missouri and start a company that made lecterns, I'd call it the Hannibal Lecter(n) Company.

Please remember: you stand ON a podium and BEHIND a lectern.
