I have built some inside plantation shutters as blinds for my home. Everything has turned out great. However, I am confused as to how to attach a rod to each louver so that they move together. I have tried using a hand staple gun with cable wire staples. These staples don’t give the clearance needed and will not hold.

Does anyone know what kind of staples and staple gun I would need to use and at what air pressure I would set the gun at, in order to finish this project?

HOLLADBUM.
Norm built some of these recently. Go to "http://www.newyankee.com" and click on "Project Library" and specify #0602 I watched the show but I don"t rember specifically how he attached the rod to the shutters.
Attached is a copy of my latest.
He used 5/8 stapplers and some jigs. I am trying to make some plantation shutters to my house
I am considering making some shutters but am stumped at how to make the profile on the slats. The instructions I have say to use a shaper and I don't own one. Did you use slats with two double tapers or did you just use flat slats.
Bill
Hi Bill,
I just used 7/16 " poplar and profiled the edge with a 3/16 R. round over bit. I have what I think is a pretty nicely equipped shop, but I do not have a Williams and Hussey moulder hanging around to profile the louvers like Norm did.
Best of luck
I found a plantation shutter router bits set. you need to search in internet (google) for the following "router bit plantation shutter" and you will see some router bit providers.I am not giving the names because I don't want to make an advertisement. The router bit makes a decent louvres, you have to sand a little bit but it is a very economic way to do it. That's the way I am doing it.
Hi holladbm,
I used 9/16 double point staples available in any of the 'big box stores'. Used a jig to pre-drill holes on the edge of the louvers and the back of the control rod. The staples I used were applied the 'old fashioned' using a hammer.
Good Luck
