Please tell me what “bump” means in these posts

Typically a bump is when someone wants activity or wants the post to be noticed and show recent activity.

As the other responder noted, but I will add that I was taught the letters meant Bring up my Post or BUMP.
A perfect example was a Bump in Classified yesterday I noticed. No response to an item listed which will drop the thread deep into never-never land. The original poster "BUMP"ed to move the the thread back to current so folks that may not have originally seen it would have the opporturnity as few dig deep into things they have missed.
