Hi, I’m wondering if someone has experience painting exposed edges of plywood after scroll saw cutting designs. I am using 1/2″ cherry plywood and am cutting out some internal shapes. When this is done I need to paint the exposed edges with a brownish paint and then finish the whole thing with something like Danish oil. I used a “quick drying” oil base paint, let it dry 3 days and when I wiped on the oil it dragged some of the paint into the unpainted areas. It isn’t that bad, but I’m wondering if there’s something else that could be done. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks

Use a different type of paint or a seal coat of shellac in between.
