Hello – I am building a workbench and looking at the hybrid workbench design on one of the magazines I have already laminated a 3 inch layer of MDF for the top. I now want to build the base. I don’t have a planer or joiner. So I am not pursuing the Chris Schwartz style workbench. Instead I would like to see if I could make a plywood base. Rob Cosman has a plan but it’s expensive and then I came across an article in Fine woodworking #181 by Cecil Braden but the online version I see seems to cut out. Does anyone have a soft copy they can share of the plans for this or even any other plywood base for a workbench?

His plan is different and needs an apron in front and back. I just need to attach stretchers.

Check the base on the Box Beam Bench. I've been using one for 4 years. Extremely stable and easily customized. 2x4 and 1/4 inch plywood.

I built this one and it is rock solid/easy to build/pretty cheap. The height was a bit low for me so I just scaled it up a few inches. https://www.finewoodworking.com/project-guides/shop-projects/build-a-simple-and-stout-workbench
