New kid (I use that term loosely) on the block. Need some advice on p-nailers. Wanting to do home trim work as well as hardi plank siding. Also some info on compressors. Saw the kit at HD for around $300.

I bought the P-C kit at home depot that comes with two guns and the small compressor to do a crown molding and trim job on my house and have no complaints. The compressor is not huge so when you're using it for a long period of time it goes on and off quite a bit. It's loud so it gets kind of annoying, but for the price and size I wasn't complaining. I don't know what siding requires so I can't speak to whether the nail guns would do for that job. I think they shoot a max of 2-in. nails?
Thanks for the help. Lowes as a Bostitch kit for 249 w/2 nailers and a larger compressor.
If you buy an 18ga nailer just be sure to get one that will shoot the 2" nails, some of the kits include a gun that only has a 1.25" capacity. Also some guns will shoot both nails or staples but some of these leave a bigger nail hole in the wood.

Thanks for the help.
I have shot thru Hardiplank with 18 ga. Porter Cable, and have had no problem whatsoever. For interior trim, you will want to go down to a 23 ga. Most of them will shoot 1 3/8" or more anymore, which you can live with for most interior trim work.

boy I hope your not doing interior trim with a 23g pinner!
The 23g pinner is for very fine work, small mouldings and such.
Interior trim is usually nailed with either a 15 or 16g for the larger things such as base and case into the walls and 18g for nailing casing into jambs.
I've trimmed out somewhere in the neighborhood of a couple hundred homes and didn't need the 23g pinner on any of them.
Now that my main thing is cabinetry I use it a lot more but just for very fine stuff.

I've trimmed homes with finish nails too. A 23 ga. pinner does great on interior base and crown molding in a a house.
I have had the PC compressor and three nailer kit for a few months. I also added a PC framing nailer at the same time. I'm using it for an addition and remodel. The compressor keeps up with me as I'm not very fast anymore. I wouldn't like it if I was still doing framing professionally. For the money I don't see how you could do much better.
