John,
I want to polish the top of my PM66 tablesaw to brighten it up. I have the idea to use rottenstone and mineral oil. The top is not rusty just not as polished as I would like.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan

Powermatic has some method of getting a higher gloss on their tables than anyone else, but I don't know how they do it. Probably the best approach would be to use a metal buffing compound on a wool bonnet installed on an angle grinder or something similar. The technology already exists for the metal trades, it's just a matter of tracking it down.
Personally I view the surface of table saws, and the like, as work surfaces. After some use they will look less than perfect but as long as they are smooth that is all that matters, it's a table saw not a fancy car.
