I built a new Garage (shop) after Katrina and my plan is to wall the inside wall with poplar that I salvaged after the storm.
The building is 30 x 50 and I’ve got about 3000 feet of poplar, I was first going to put it up rough cut for a rustic look. But I planned a few boards and the grain really came out nice. I decided to do all of it like this, what finish could anyone recommend that would highlite the grain and still maintain a light colored finish.

My personal choice for poplar is paint- but if you do want to leave it with a natural finish I would probably go with something simple like watco wipe on poly. Brush or roll it on and then wipe off excess.
Make sure you have plenty of ventilation!
good luck
