Porosity of hardwoods

Does anyone know of an article that discusses the porosity of different hardwoods?

hardwoods are in principle not porose, i.e. fast moisture exchange between the wood and its surroundings

I am looking for same article, but did not find. I heard that porous wood required the regular maintenance and restoration to live long. Please some one post the full information on it.
