Hello All!
I’m in the market for a smaller dovetail jig that sets up easily, is easy to move, and isn’t going to break the bank. I already own the Leigh D4, but I would like to make half-blind dovetails and when I bought the D4, it didn’t come with the correct dovetail cutter to do both half-blind and through. I was at the Tool Crib the other day and the 4212 caught my eye and it is in my price range. Also, I liked the compact size because the D4 is great, but I want something that’s more portable. Also for what I payed for the D4 I would like to keep it from getting banged around in the truck and would much rather leave it in my shop!
Any and all input would be great!
Thanks,
Mike

I have an earlier model and it works great. Easy to use. I have good comments on this newer model. I would buy it if I needed one.

I have the 4212 dovetail jig. It worked fine for the first set of half-blinds that AI did. The depth stops that they talk about are not calibrated from the factory; you have to do it, so there is still the need to run test pieces. The clamping of the material is very solid, using the cam-type holddowns. Haven't used the box joint jigs yet. I would have to say that this is the only dovetail jig that I have seen that seems to be reasonably priced while still being good quality. Some of the brands seem very expensive for what they do. Ultimately I want to get good at handmade joints anyway.
just seen amazon has the jig for $30 dollars off.
That jig is an awsome buy at 106. Comes with carbide dt and straight bits and 2 templates. Makes box, through and half blind as well as sliding.
just got it today. amazon is quick! didn't get to play just yet, i've made a date for friday. lol
