CHOO CHOO train sander, best sander ever made. Made when men were men and before dust became bad for you!
I've had several PC/ Rockwell worm drive machines and always used the Skil worm drive lubricant that they sell for their model 77 circular saw. Chains I used white lithium grease. The Skil is a popular tool so their lubricant was easily available at hardware stores and lumberyards, that is the only reason I used it. If an oil is formulated for worm drive mechanisms how different could it be from brand to brand? -

Thanks pantalones868, I appreciate the information and will proceed. I intend to keep that A3 running until I drop, hopefully whoever gets it after me will do the same. DuluthBrian.
I have a Porter-Cable A3 belt sander, probably from the early 1950’s inherited from my grandfather who I lived with for some years. It was one of the tools of his trade being a carpenter/cabinet maker. I use it rarely but it does seem to work fine. I think I need to lubricate it. The manual specifies Porter-Cable 33-YX worm gear lubricant and 34-YX chain case grease. Evidently neither of these is available now. What modern product could I use for these applications?; I would appreciate any simple specs, product names, etc. Thanks, Brian Guenterberg, Duluth, MN.
