Another one of my 14.4V packs is going out. Haven’t had it all that long.
Anyone ever tried to rejuvinage one by pumping more amps into it? I’ve got mine on a variable power supply pumping 10 amps through it. Hopefully it won’t explode!! Will try it for 15 minutes at a time and see if it heats up.
Oops! Never mine – while typing this it started popping and smoking!!!!!!!
Where’s the cheapest place to buy new ones????

Mike,
During another discussion on this subject, Rickddd said that many of the battery packs in the shops he worked in were rebuilt by a company http://www.voltman.com.
I never knew there were folks who rebuilt batteries, so I decided to send my two P-C 14.4v batteries that were shot off to Voltman. Essentially for $70 ($35 per pack) I got new batteries and they work great. Highly recommended, turnarounded in about 10 days..
Best of luck

Thanks for the link to rebuilding batteries...however it didn't work. I did a web search and found the address to be: http://www.voltmanbatteries.com
I had no idea anyone was rebuilding batteries. Thanks again.
I found one at Lowe's for $59. Much cheaper than what I could find on the Internet. Plus, I had a gift card left over from Christmas that covered it all plus more!!!

Planewood,
I replaced my PC drills with the Panasonic 15.6 just exactly because of this problem with the batteries. I've been very happy with the drill.

Are you saying that the Panasonic batteries are better than the Porter Cable batteries?

Planewood,
Absolutely, way more run time and a lot more power. They're expensive but well worth the additional cost.

If you keep an eye on ebay, sometimes a good deal can be had.

I often wonder where people get the tools they sell on there, but that is another subject.
Yeah, I looked at those but I needed it yesterday.
