I am looking at the cordless PC brad nailer for my dad. He’s 75 and redoing the casings in his house. Swinging a hammer isn’t good for him but he’s always done everything himself. So he’s not going to stop now.
He went looking for a cordless and saw the Pasload. It was way out of his/my price range.
Has anyone had any experience with the cordless PC nailer?

This is one heavy piece of equipment for a 75 years old.......Why not look at the kit they have, a compressor, a nail gun and a hose ???
I havent look at the price of these, but you can use the compressor for other stuff (inflating tires, blowing air on dust, etc...

Bob,
Dad's in great shape, but repetative motion is not good for him. He still quite capable of kicking my ***.
He didn't want a compressor setup. It's tough to argue with him. I'm still his kid. I think it's going to be easier to convience mom about buying one tool not several.
Do you have one? Does it work well?

I dont have the cordless, but I tried it once and it is heavy to work with (in my opinion) I have the porter cable kit, with compressor and hose and gun, and it worked like a charm, and I bought that for trim work in my new home. I also read somewhere that you fire 10 nails, then wait for it to recharge, then fire 10 more, so on. With compressor, you can fire as many as you like. I mounted the compressor on a wheeled platform, so it is easy to roll around
Think about it
But I understand that he is your Dad, and always right (!)

Len,
You should look at the new Senco cordless brad nailer. I bought mine at Home Depot for $249! This is by far the best finish brad nailer I've ever seen in over 30 years in the business. I own 4 other brad nailers including the Paslode, all the others now sit on the shelf in my shop. The Senco is battery operated and comes with two batteries, charger and a nice case. It requires no gas cylinder or other bothersome accessories. It looks just like thier other air-fed pinner but with a battery on the back, it is heavier but not excessivly so and fires about 1000 shots on a single battery charge. There is a moments hesitation after you pull the trigger but you get useed to that really quickly. you owe it to yourself and your Dad to check it out and with Home Depot's liberal return policy you really can't miss. By the way I also bought the Senco cordless angle finish nailer and am anxiously awaiting the narrow crown stapler that I hope is in the works.

doc,
This may be the ticket. Senco are great. We use them in the shop at work. I will take a look at them. I have Accuset (Senco) nailers and would loan them to my Dad but I live 350+ miles away.
It seems that the PC nailer is a great concept but needs a little more refinement. Pasload also seem pretty nice and people seem to like them.
Thanks for the advice,
Len
Len-- I goofed on my previous post. I meant the Senco airless gun when I said P-C. My comments still stand , just change the names. BTW, I have all Senco air guns ( 5 at last count ) which I think are great. I just wasn't impressed with their airless line.
Dear Len,
I am a trim contractor with 15 yrs in so far. Never mind the hoses or the PC cordless. The Paslode 18ga. brad nailer is simply outstanding. It is very reliable, shoots from 5/8 to 2" brads, simple to service and operate. It has an easy to load magazine, nice depth adjustment, and a "quick clear" feature for any jams. (I can't remember having any ) The PC, with its battery and built in compresser, is another "Bammer" and will be on the scrap heap in the next year or two. I really can't say enough about the gun. I haven't used my air guns in two years. Even in my shop. It's that good. I bet that you can get that from Amazon.com for $360-380.00. The PC is probably $100.00 or more cheaper, but beleive me, its MORE than worth it. PLUS.... if your Dad can still beat you silly, you don't want him running across the Paslode and wanting to know why you bought him the PC!!! As a final, I would like to suggest that you purchase from Amazon or similar, (Coastal Tool, Tools Plus, etc.) as opposed to Home Depot in particular. I don't know if they are rough on the tools, or if companies dump thier "seconds" on them, but I and many others have had trouble with tools bought there. I have had NO issues with ANY tools from Amazon and that includes a PM66, my old compresser and guns, screw guns, surface planer, etc. Good Luck!
John
Thanks for info.
He looked at the Pasload and thought it was too much. I'll talk to him about it later.
I'm really not sure if he can beat me silly but when I was 17, I challenged him (As stupid 17 year olds sometimes do.) I don't know how he put on the ground. I don't want to find out if he still can.

Len-- I have used the P-C brad nailer and found it very awkward to use. You push it against the work, pull the trigger, and wait. It takes a few seconds for the tool to wind up and fire. If I were to buy an airless brad nailer, it definitely would be the Paslode. Besides, If you buy him the better gun, you can ask him to leave it to you in his will<G>
Len Senco has just come out with a beauty of a air compressor and Brad nail gun combo, the brad gun will shoot up too a 2" brad both are available together with a short air hose for $195.00 plus tax and shipping if shipped from out of state like here in calif. you will only pay for shipping.
The best thing about this combo set is the air compressor only weights 15LBS !! yes 15 lbs. you get about 9 shots off before the compressor starts running but I find it not to be a problem. I picked mine up at the wood show in Anaheim two weeks ago.
