I will be travelling in the area of Portland Oregon in early August. I am hoping that people in the area might suggest some exhibits, woodworking schools, or even special tool stores…anything relating to woodworking, that I might enjoy visiting while I am there.
Thanks
Gary

Stop by my old place of employ, the Joinery on Woodstock. Nice shop and good people.
Not quite gallery quality furniture, but very high quality production furniture.
Also the Oregon School of Craft is in Portland and might be of interest.
Gary Rogowski's school is also in Portland.
Enjoy Portland, I sure miss it.
If you drink beer, do yourself a favor and try Full Sail Amber and Obsidian Stout. Tasty, tasty stuff.
Hey,
I lived in Portland for years. You must stop in to Woodcrafters on sixth and Davis. They have a nice selection of hand tools and hardwoods. Also Bridge city tools is their. Call 411 for detailed directions. I agree with an earlier post, take time to taste some local Micro brews. Depending on where your staying, visit a Mcminamins pub and down a terminator stout.
GJK ,
If you have time stop in a store called THE REAL MOTHER GOOSE downtown on Yamhill . If for no other reason to be inspired by some beautiful works .
have fun dusty
Lots to do here. I agree with all the other posts and would add a couple more.
Vistit the japanese gardens for some mental rest. also, visit Powells books on Burnside downtown - it is HUGE. and for treat on some old time woodwork, Oaks Park amusemewnt park has a 100 yr old carosel still in operation - I go there just to ride it and look at all the carved animals.
Thank you to Bob,Adastra,Vanman,Dusty & Rick,
With your suggestions I know I will have a more enjoyable vacation & my longings for my shop will be somewhat assuaged.
