I’m about to finish my shop, and have the opportunity to place a 60 gal air compressor either outside or inside. Besides the noise of it being inside, is there other advantages to having it outside? Does the difference in temprature create additional complications?

You talking Arizona or Alaska?? Yes there is a difference in cold climates. Better off in doors in winter climates.
I put mine inside and piped the intake through the wall outside.

Put it in the kitchen, or the kids's bedroom, so you don't have to listen to it in the shop. ;-)
Seriously, I'd agree that it depends on climate. Outside, you'd most likely need to build some sort of shelter for the compressor, at a minimum. Moderating its environment will keep it happy and running longer.
I'm in North Carolina where the winter temps rarely get below 30. In the summer, the skys the limit as well as the humidity. I was just concerned about excess moisture in the lines if I put it outside. I've got to pour a pad anyway where it would live for my heat pump and I may just make it a little larger. Thanks guys for the replys.
In your area, pulling in ambient, high-humidity air might be an issue due to the associated internal condensation aspects. I'd check the manufacturer's options for water trapping, and make sure the tank design and positioning provides a means of draining all the collected water from the tank.
That really depends where you live. Check with the manufacturer to see what the acceptable temperature ranges are. I wouldn't leave it unheated where I live.
