I need to nail lots of hangers I’m considering the hitachi positive placement nailer. Does anyone have experience with this or a similar product. I just want to know just how practical this tool is.

Bostitch makes a 2 in 1 framing nailer. Its a metal connector and a full head framing nailer, all fro a reasonable cost. see link below. good luck.

HH.,
I Have the Hitachi strap-tite NR65AKS and I love it . Yes its pricey but concider all those little joist hanger nails you need to hold on to . It will pay for its self very soon. There are only three things that could be considered negative. #1, The gun is LOUD hearing protection is a must unless you like that ringing in your ears at 2am. #2, When the gun fires it will blow out small bits of glue from the nail strip, eye protection is a must, I got hit in the face with a piece of glue and it really bit, the eye would be a trip to the local clinic. #3, The nail strips never last as long as you would think or are used to with larger frame guns. Have lots in your pouch to save trips back to the box. So all in all I have no regrets at all and I would give this gun 5 stars. Oh ya one more thing, it does not come with a case but the duluth trading co. makes a real nice one and thats what I bought for mine. Hope this helps. Rick.
Fist off thanks for the in put. I was also wondering How is it in labor cost, vs extra nail cost. Actually how much is a case of nails and what are the size limitations? Did you know there is a web page that sells factory direct refurbishes from hitachi? It's been awhile but I could find it if youre intersted.
H.H.,
To give you an example. My crew an I were working on a local camp last summer and we built a deck off the main building that was 16'x 80' with 16'- 2x12's 12" on center needless to say that's a lot of joist hangers. I had one man go ahead of me and get the hangers tacked and tight and I followed with the Hitachi and nailed them off we were done in less then 5 hours. That's 158 hangers for 2x12's. The nails I used are made by B&C Eagle they are no. 112x148/33 1 1/2 a case of 3000 is 69.99 through Amazon. I did the camp job and still have 1/2+ case left so I used about 30.00 bucks worth of nails. The nails come in 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. As far as the refurbished from Hitachi if you run across it drop me a line. Always interested . Rick. We are soon going to be putting siding on this house we are building it will be vertical pre-painted (red) pine ship-lap. The house is 55'x 35' and 3 stories with a gambrel roof . What would you recommend for a nail gun to put this siding on???? I was looking at the Hitachi NV75AG coil nailer what do you think . Any one out there have one ? Have a Nice Sunday. Rick
Sorry, I've never had a to put on siding, with a gun anyways. I would be worried about the nails splitting it. Apparently paslode has a 2.25 nailer. Slightly smaller than their f325c(3 1/4 coil) They say it's for smaller nails but I'm not sure how hard they shoot. Hitachi's have been the best performers for us. Thanks for your earlier reply.
