I am going to make a smallish ( 24″ Height, 24″ Depth, 12″ Width) Post and Panel Cabinet. It will have inset drawers. In order to get as much drawer height as possible how close to the floor can the bottom rails be without the cabinet looking ‘funny’? I’m doing the frame and panel so the design will be close to a couple of other pieces of mission style furniture that have post legs.
Thank You.

Sketchpad time. Lay out as many 1:2 boxes on a page as you can and draw in different details on every single one. Make the first page quick & dirty. Second page with half as many boxes to refine/ combine them. You'll get there.
I had bought a Sketchup book years ago and downloaded Sketchup. From what I have read it is no longer free and I won't use it enough to justify paying for it. You mentioned Sketchpad. Is that something different?
Thank You.
Mine is paper and has little squares on it. It requires the addition of another technological innovation called a "pencil"...
One variable you should consider is if it going to be on a hard surface floor or carpet. I designed a cabinet several years ago and look good in the drawing but once built and placed on carpet it look not as good. I go with about three inches now but it is on bigger sized pieces then you mentioned here
It will be on a hard surface. There are 3 other pieces in the room. Two are Mission Style end tables and one is a sofa server that extends over the center of the sofa.....I made the server myself and it is smaller than the end tables but I tried to keep the parts (legs and rails)in the same proportions as the end tables' legs and rails. I measured the floor to rail distance on the end tables and server and they are about 3 inches too.
So 3 inches for the new piece. Thank You.
