Just finished spraying four walnut kitchen chairs with post cat lacquer thinned with a little lacquer thinner from Home Depot. The off gassing that I am smelling is more like a bathroom cleaner smell, not a more solvent type smell. Hold all the jokes, please, is there something being added to lacquer thinner? This is a first for me which is why I am asking. I am going to steel wool some wax for a little added protection which I hope will deal with this. Thanks for the help.

Could it be the lacquer, not the lacquer thinner? Have you looked up the MSDS for both, to see if anything else is in there?
I'll do that now thanks!
I don't mix products from different Manufactures. Finish products are complex formulations engineered by each manufacture for a specific result. The MSDS will only give you a basic formulation. Proprietary formulations are copyrighted. Best policy/practice is using only same manufacture with their additives in their recommend amounts.
