Hi all,
will this bedpost come apart somehow? It’s loose but doesn’t spin. Thanks

What doesn't spin?
The turned post section is loose in the joint as it connects to the square section, wobbles just a little, I want to remove it. It will not spin, I thought it could be unscrewed. Must it be cut? Thanks
What's loose?
The turned section of post (upper)
Wobbles slightly inside the square section, looks like it could come apart which is my goal, thought it was screwed in but pretty sure it’s not or it’s super tight. Thanks
It's most likely not screwed, but a round tenon on the upper part in a hole on the lower part, that are/were glued together.
It's hard to say what you should do without knowing more. If there is a gap, it possible to get a syringe with glue in there. Or wobble it repeatedly until it comes apart, and reglue it properly. Or just put the handcuffs on a different post.
I want to delete it by not cutting it, but it seems that is the only choice, trying to turn it into a standard style with the footboard shorter than head board. Thanks!
Use a magnet to look for a nail, a pretty common "first fix" for a loose part...there might/could/maybe be a wood pin. If you can make a ring to fit a sturdy part of the turned profile you could use spreader clamps to try and press them apart.
Ur correct about the nails, there’s 2 finish nails which I wouldn’t have been able to remove without trashing the square. Thanks everyone .
