Been looking at buying a power feeder for sometime. Just wondering what rules apply for HP rating verse shop equipment. It may be used on a router table, table saw, band saw, jointer and shaper.

Scott, I use a Grizzly baby powerfeeder, works fine but if I were to buy it again I would buy a 1/4 hp feeder. The 1/4hp and larger feeders are easier to set up, besides being able to feed larger material. What ever feeder you get , make sure your saw top is waxed, outfeed table or roller supports are in alignment.
I had some problems at first feeding long stock, my fault not the feeder. My outfeed table is 42"x 96" mdf, the top was not perfectly straight because of the underneath support. I removed the mdf, jointed the 2x supports straight and put it back together. Now the feeder works fine on long stock. I wax the mdf too.

Hi scott- Take a look at Sunhill Machinery I just bought a Feeder from them that is specifically made for the table saw. It is awesome!! It is 1/2hp and take 10ft long boards thru the blade no problems!! There is a very nice lady at sunhill by the name of Sydney Pugmire and she is very knowledge and very helpful with no pressure sales. The smallest feeder I would buy is the 1/4hp, however I don't think a 1/4hp feeder will fit on a router table. It's to big and heavy. Not unless you have the router table to end all router tables, on a shaper, table saw fine but not a router table. Any way look at Sunhill. I am not affiliated with them by the way. - Kris
Being in Canada Sunhill and Grizzly are not available in my neck of the woods. I was looking at a General or King Industrial. I was looking at 1/8Hp but I guess I will take a look at the 1/2 Hp now as I want something that will still be of use if I upgrade some stuff down the road. As far a router tables I have a secondary router in my table saw extension that will allow me to use a power feeder. The stand alone unit would stand up to much use with a power feeder.Scott C.
