So here is a good one for my first post.
I put a set of knives in my new Powermatic PM15 planer/ molder, adjusted the chip deflector, but didn’t re-tighten the screws. so the chip deflector slips and hits the knives. The knives are salvagable, one gib destroyed. The worst damage is the cutter head, which will have to be replaced.
Has anyone done this repair on their own? How much is the new cutterhead going to set me back?Right now I have the machine on my truck ready to deliver to the service center on Monday.
It’s one of those things that you only do once (I hope)

I would order the part and put it in. these machines are not rockets, and thus repair ain't rocket science..you might need a bearing/wheel puller but you can get one at Harbor Freight or some such place for a couple bucks...worst thing you can do is f it up and have to take it to the "man" to fix it..
