I have a one-car garage shop in AZ. Usually I’ve got the doors open and fans keeping a good ventilation going through the space to supplement the use of a shop vac and keep dust out. But as colder temps approach (yes, it does get cold here), I want to close and heat the garage. But dust control in an enclosed woodshop becomes an issue.
I’ve been eyeing the Triton powered respirator and was wondering if any woodworkers out there are using one. Do you like it? Is it really any better than standard dust masks?

I had the Triton but sold it. It was really bulky and awkward. I have a Trend unit (older style) and it does a good job from looking at the prefilter. It is still a bit heavy on the head but is much better than inhaling dust. It only has half the battery life the Triton did.

Is that a Trend Airshield?
I have the Trend Airshield (the last model, not the newest one.)
LOVE IT!
Even in hot weather, the breeze is comfortable, and sanding is now a joy, instead of a dust, choking chore. For both sanding on the lathe, and free hand sanding (including creating a Saharan dust storm using a 50 grit disc on an angle grinder to shape a Maloof-style chair) it can't be beat.
Plus, unlike a dust mask with safety glasses, NO FOGGING! Now I can actually see what I'm doing.
I have a Racal power visor ( I don't think they are made anymore) and it works great. Even in hot weather it is comfortable, and it seems to do a very good job of filtering the air. I see very similar ones for sale and when this one gives up, I'll buy one those.
