Yes, rare earth magnets generally are stronger than other types, but strength varies within the rare earth category. There are two types of rare earth magnets: Neodymium and samarium-cobalt. Of these the Neodymium are generally stronger, but also vary. Better suppliers will include an "N" rating, like N42. Larger numbers are stronger, in terms of magnetic force.
