Well,
I purchaed the Powermatic 14 inch bandsaw last week, a package deal for around $ 1,000 ( with fence, light, mobile base, and upgraded guides) assembled it out of the box. I immediately trashed the blade that came with it and installed a new Tiberwolf 3 tpi skip blade. Setting up was not too bad, written directions absolutley terrible.
The table pretty much was dead flat, adjustment for blade drift was very easy and is actualy very slight as I took my time insuring blade properly placed, centered etc.
BUT, right off the bat I SHOULD have gotten a riser blcok for it as I was trying to cut legs for a larger chest and sure enough could not fit the leg profile under the cutter! @#$! Not enough room.
Oh well, sure hope Powermatic sells risers?

BenA,
Thanks how high does it raise the set up?
A quick look at the Powermatic web site shows that the riser block is the same 6" height as in virtually all the other 14" bandsaw clones.
Bummer! Don't buy any more blades until you get the riser. (I learned that lesson the hard way too)

I own a 14" Jet bandsaw. Got a great deal couldn't pass up. Same parent co. as Powermatic. I installed the riser block from the get-go. It gives me a full 12" of clearance. All the instructions for assembling the unit were horrible!! Must be company wide issue. The tool has been excellent, I'm sure the Powermatic will be also.
Good Luck!
