I’m currently in the market for a new 15 inch planer. I’m looking for unbiased feedback from owners and users of the Powermatic 15S. I’m interested in the lifespan of the disposable spiral blades and the quality of cut. I’m also interested in the ease or difficulity of changing the blades and any other positive or negative experiences with the planer in general. Speaking of General, does anyone know what makes the General 130 14 inch so expensive and is there really that much difference between the General and the Asian imports. One last question. Has anyone had any experience with the new Grizzly 15 inch Extreme planer with the spiral cutterhead. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan |

I'd like to help, but my PM 15S just arrived and it's still in the garage in the shipping container. Popular Woodworking had a review of 15" planers Feb 2005. I needed something quieter for a basement shop and the Amazon $150 off pushed me over the edge along with the WHM rebate $100 and $100 of Amazon coupons I had. Plus the 3% on the Amazon card and an affiliate rebate. I'd better stop now, I'm begining to sound like my ex justifying credit card spending. Good luck with your purchase decision. FWIW I've only seen one complaint on blade life in a review on Amazon.
