I am interested in purchasing the Powermatic 3520A lathe and have been told that the tailstock is hollow and would allow the drilling out of a center hole in the piece being turned. Can anyone confirm this? I am planning to turn some lamp bases and wonder if a 3/8″ bit can be used to drill out a hole in the lamp base for an electrical cord. I assume this is done while the piece is rotating on the lathe? Are there any special parts or options that might be required to do this?
