Is this jointer a good choice fir the hobbiest or would I of been better off with something else? I purchased the machine for $599 U.S.

Don't be so quick in your reply. You've forgotten that I and others like me sympathize with those like Liberty who have been royally robbed.
What I and my kind do in these situations is offer to save Liberty and his kind from total loss by purchasing the offending machine for 1/2 of what was paid for it. (Less shipping costs, of course.) Wish I could offer 100% or pick up the shipping, but it's the best I can do with the economy the way it is.
I think of it as my little way of making this old world a better place.
