I am also interested in the DDS-225, am wondering if you bought one?
Hi,
Sorry about taking so long to get back to you. No, I haven't yet, but am going to at the end of this month. Would sure like to see a review on one first though. I am looking for a drum sander that sands down to 1/8" and is at least 25" wide and is dual drum. It seems to fit the bill. The cheapest I have found these new is $2089 from a company in Washington. They claim it is a sale,,,it will likely go off before the end of the month (my luck). Let me know if you get one first...I will keep you posted.
Kevin
Thanks for the reply, There does not seem to be much info out there yet, I went ahead and ordered one last week from a local hardware store, $2099 + tax, no freight charge, I will be picking it up at 6 this eve. I was able to see one, they are heavier than the Woodmasters 26"- 730lbs vs. 590lbs, and come with reverse, ect., what I liked the most was the rear drum adjustment. I can give you more info later this week. -Scott
Glad to hear you are making the purchase! I would like to hear about how much snipe (if any) there is, whether or not the 2 speeds on the belt are about right (doesn't seem to be enough difference between 8 and 10 fpm), how easy it is to put sandpaper on the rollers, and how can I get a 700+ pound sander downstairs to my basement shop with a 500 pound rated winch! It really looks like a nice unit and I am really anxious to hear what you think of it. In additional information you can give me would really be apprciated.
Thanks in advance for the info!
Kevin
Scott,
Just wondering if you got a chance to use the new Powermatic Drum Sander yet and wanted to know how you liked it.
Kevin
Hi Kevin, I have been busy getting our boat ready for paint this week, as of now I plan on devoting a good part of Sunday to getting the sander up and running, I have the plug, power cord and dust hook up I needed, I ordered some 120, 180 and 220 paper, will probably be sometime late next week before it arrives. Hopefully I will have some info for you by Sunday eve. -Scott
