I am looking for a used eight inch jointer and have an opportunity to purchase an older Powermatic Model 60. I think it was manufactured in the late 60’s. The motor has been replaced with a Baldor 3HP. Does anyone have experience with this machine and/or can give advise on buying one used ? Thank you

I"ve used a Powermatic 60 on occasion at a local school shop. It seemed fine but I don't have enough experience with this machine to offer much advice (I've got a Delta DJ-20). Just curious why the former owner put a 3 HP motor on it. Nothing wrong with that. It's just twice as much motor as you really need.
