Hello, I’ve got a question about this 8 inch jointer. Is this machine made in the US? I contacted the company and they told me it was. But are all the pieces, parts made here? I didn’t ask them that question. Sometimes the casting are done overseas or other parts and then assembled back in the states and they claim it’s entirely American made. I think that’s stretching it a bit. I’d like to hear what you all have to say.
Thanks,

When I recently purchased a jointer, I talked to a distributor about the Powermatic 60. He told me that Powermatic recently moved production of some of the parts to Taiwan, but that enough of the parts are made in the USA that they can still claim to it to be a US made machine. He said he picked up on the change when he was examining some castings on the jointer, noticed they were different, and asked the rep for Powermatic.
Did you buy the model 60 or another brand?

Bought another brand--the General International 8 inch for $1,150. I bypassed the Delta because of all the problems I read about it on various forums, and thought the fit and finish was better than Sunhill/Grizzly to justify the extra few hundred dollars.
