I am trying to rebuild an older Powermatic 66 and I am looking to replace a 3ph baldor motor witha a single phase motor. I need to match a 3hp 3450rpm 145tc frame. However, Powermatic must have exclusive rights to distribute the Baldor version of this motor because I can’t find it anywhere else but at Powermatic and the price is $415. Does anyone have an alternate source of where to find this motor? I have found a Leeson motor but I do not know anything about them. How are Leeson motors? Also, is there anything else I need to think about? Changing out the switch etc. I have considered a phase converter but only have one 3ph tool and want to keep things simple. Any assistance is appreciated.

Powermatic doesn't have any exclusives on that motor. You should be able to find that frame size in other brands such as Leeson, WEG, Dayton. You will need to change the heaters in the switch and add a jumper wire on the appropriate leads. You will only need two heaters.
Plaza Machinery has a Baldor for $335 plus $15 shipping

Any 145TC frame will work. I installed a 3 hp 1ph Matharon motor on a Powermatic a couple of years ago.
