Hey,
I have a 12″ Dewalt compound miter saw with which I am trying to get precise 90 degree cuts.
I’ve tried adjusting the saw blade as much as I can but I still get imprecise cuts. Basically, on a 3″ piece, the error is about 1/64th of an inch. Double that on a 6″ piece.
Am I using the wrong tool for the kind of precision I am trying to achieve or am I not adjusting the tool properly?
Thanks for your help.

Assuming there's no slop in the pivot it's probably the fence. By the nature of their shape and relative lightness these fences can be the weak link. Check it with a good straight edge. If it's out you can try to tweek it straight but you will risk breaking it. I'd attach MDF or Melamine faces and shim them square to the blade/table.
