Hello-
I am just finishing a japanese Tansu. Quite a challenge for a newbie. So I am at the end and I just installed blum inset hinges. I can adjust the gap and inset depth just fine but the side of the door that has the knob is pulling in almost 1/2 in deeper than the hinged side. Can you adjust for this? What is going wrong? Could the side wall be that off square? I can’t imagine it is that bad. How do you fet these things perfect?
I know the hinge hole is square and flat and the door is as well.

Kimberly:
Unless I am mistaken, these hinges are "self-closing", i.e., there is action in the hinges to pull the door towards the cabinet. If there isn't a stop, the door will pull into the carcass as you've described (I am guessing inset doors).
Just put a stop in the opening to stop the door.
I agree, add a stop.
Thanks,
That is what I was thinking too but I didn't know if that was cheesy. In the future should I expect to get them to close perfectly or is a stop standard? If it is my mistake then any advice on how to avoid in the future would be much appreciated.
Thanks-Kimberly
Stops are standard. These hinges were originally developed for overlaid doors which rest on the cabinet edges
