I had a contractor install new clear western red cedar siding — verticle 4″ T&G — and he recommended using Cabots’ bleaching oil. It was subsequently put on too thick in places and I am having problems having the areas that are too thick cleaned up.
Also aparently when the new boards were put up, one of the men with either oily palms or something on his hands leaned against the boards prior to applying the oil and this has now shown up as a dark hand print in several spots after the oil was put on. Short of having the contractor remove those boards with hand prints is there any known way to clear this up?
Any ideas as to remedying these problems?
Thanks.

Cabot's has a good product line, but I'm not sure what "bleaching oil" is. Your best bet could be to read the product info label.
