Problems w/ Biesemeyer Extension Table
Just got an X-5 Unisaw.
Have had three Biesemeyer fences in the past, but always built my own extension table. Got this one with the saw. Have two problems:
1) There is a 1/16″ bow in the center of the table where it is to attach to the cast table extension. As a result, there is a ridge between the extension table and the cast extension. Figure I can fix this one with a brace underneath the table to take the front to back bow out.
2) One corner of the table (rear right hand side) is also high by about 1/16″. I have tried everything to adjust this out, but no use. If I push down and try to secure, it just bends the fence rail a bit. At the end of the day, when I lay my 6′ level from the blade over the end of the laminate extension, you can see about 1/16″ of bow in the table. Am concerned that this will represent a problem when ripping sheet goods.
Anyone else have this problem? How to solve? or live with it (don’t like that for a $1700 saw)

Robbie,
I've been in a similar place before. May I suggest that you stop trying to fix and/or work around and send it back. I know its hard, you wait for the new accesory and when you finally get it you want to start using it but, that fence costs too much to be so far off.
Jeff: Have called Delta and they will send a new table board. Still wondering if anyone else had this problem and what yoy did about it. How much of an issue is it?
Sorry Robbie, can't help with the specific problem.
Robbie,
Had the same problem with mine. I bought the Platinum Edition Delta 10" Contractor saw with 32" Biesemeyer and the table extension included. This is my solution. Not the best but it works for me. Since my saw is in a oversize single car garage and I have to move it a lot on it's homemade mobile base I figure that has something to do with the extension table movement. The main thing you have to worry about is the back 4" and the front 4" of the extension table. There are 2 pads on the Biesemeyer fence that are made out of nylon towards the back that the fence rides on. As long as the 4" from the back and front edge line up flush with the metal table on the saw it works fine. Once in a while I lay a 2x4 across the edge that butts up against the metal table on the saw and give it a calibrated wack and it's good for another month. Here in Oregon the humidity and temperature vary a lot in my garage also. I think that expands and contracts the particle board under the grey laminate. It's not the best extension table. Some day I will get around to building a better one. Until then that is my band-aid fix.
