When I landed a job building a room full of cabinets recently, I looked for the same answer. I ended up getting one of the version of Cutlist Plus.
It was very helpful, easy to learn and use, and WELL worth the price I paid. (I probably saved more in plywood costs on that one job, than the price I paid for the software.)
Note that for cabinets and "cabiniture" (furniture made using cabinet-making methods) it works very well. I don't know how it might work for more traditional furniture making, which uses random width stock instead of sheets.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
