Living on a wooded lot I have harvested some interesting wood including dogwood and cherry. I know that professional sawyers have paint they use to seal the end grain so that the wood dries uniformly preventing tension. Are there paint products available to the amateur that will properly adhear to green lumber serve the purpose?

The good news is that amateurs have access to the same supplies used by professionals for sealing endgrain on green lumber. UC Coatings makes a parafin-based paint sealer, called Anchorseal, that is used by turners, sawyers, and hobbyists.
Their Web site has a lot of information about the product and where to buy it. https://www.uccoatings.com/uccoat.php
