Proper fuse for old radial arm saw
I do not want to rely on the thermal shut off of my old 40 plus years old induction motor RAS.
It will be on a 20 amp 230 volt circuit and I believe if there is a jam or otherwise too heavy a load and the thermal shut-off is non-functional the motor will burn.
It is quite inexpensive to add a fuse to make sure. The amp rating on the induction motor is 8 amp at 230 volt. Would a 10 amp fuse be suitable? I am concerned about start-up inrush that can be twice or more of the rated amp of an induction motor. The type of fuse cannot be instantaneous fast reacting. What type of fuse is suitable?
Thanks

125% of motor full load amp (FLA) is correct. Use time delay fuses; this will compensate for the motor inrush at startup.
