I will be making a project with frame and panel doors and have purchased a Freud anti-kickback panel raising bit (about 2 1/2 inch diameter) for use in my router table. I have a Freud 3 1/4 hp router. What speed would people recommend using this for maximum efficencey and safety? Of course the dial on the router goes from 1-6 and is not calibrated in RPM. Any tips appreciated. Do you need to use a pin to start routing the profile?
Thanks,
Jay

A couple of sites for useful information:
Pat Warner's Router site
Woodzone speed chart
There are certainly others "out there" with further info.

12000 RPM max. There is a chart on the side of the FT2000E just below the speed control dial that gives RPM relative to the knob setting. I think 12000 is a little below 2 on the dial.

Is there not a chart in the owners manual that gives a recommend speed for a operation.
Bit speed recommendations are the determined by the bit manufacturer so we defer to them and don't print them in the router manual. Freud router bits have a printed package insert with a chart for bit speed relative to bit diameter. Bit speed is directly proportionate to feed speed so the speed recommendations are usually based on safe speed to allow for hand feeding.
