Proposing a new Forum: Under Construction
Hello Knotters
I was wondering if any others would like to see a forum that would feature “work in progress” inputs? I would like to see how others are progressing on project and more importantly how they did things and why they did it that way.
Is there interest in getting this kind of thing going? I know there are knotters who have written to me in the past asking for more pictures and lots of why did you do it that way questions. I like seeing finished stuff but I think there is a void when we don’t see how the project unfolds.
Any feedback?

Why not use our current platfon? Using the Knots gallery discussion section, keeps everybody in the same loop.
Some are already using the existing Knots Gallery section to show in-progress work. I'd enjoy more members doing so more frequently., However, in-progress pictures can be a significant effort to produce.
I 2nd it..
The Gallery is kinda a "its done" It would be nice for a "how" it was done...
Start a thread for you current idea.. its design.. execution. finishing.. done...
Samson posted a awesome mostly hand made cabinet that way... and oh.. acrost the pond
crap name leaves me Ill remember it.. posted a wonderful path he walked to designing and executing a table.
If you post it in the gallery then you have to wade thru stuff looking for it..
In a "making blog" you can kinda just psot your progress and get input at.. even ask questions to the audience.

Work in progress is helpful
I really like seeing the work in progress, as it's very often helpful for me in either a similar project or even seeing how someone designed their joinery. It's definitely a learning process, so I'm all for it.

My memory's good, it's just short.
Sounds Great
Having more projects started than finished it sounds like just the place to have/visit for me.
I like the way you think David. Get rid of that unused Ask the Expert and there would be space for lots of cool stuff, Of course, I would be nice if Ask the Expert was actually functional.
those Experts
Bob, I tend to think those "Ask the Expert" titles were given in jest. I mean, it's not like on most ordinary posts you don't get enough "expert" responses anyway... And what does "You're the Expert" mean anyhow?
New Forum?
Well it looks like a mixed review here?? I looked in the two spots that had Gallery/Readers Gallery recommended by others. I don't see much in the way of "how I did this" type messages.
It seems like everybody likes photos from other knotters a whole bunch. I guess the issue might be folks just don't want the hassle of taking a photo as their work progresses? I don't find snapping off digital shots(not always pretty but of some value for instruction) to be that inconvenient.
We will just have to see what the folks in the big office think of the idea. Looking at the Experts section----- rusty at best. I like John Whites replies and read them most of my visits but the rest seems unused.
My frustration with some of the subjects is what I call "thread departure" and chat breakdowns. Don't want to complain here I just thought it would be good to get on with a building idea. It certainly won't set anybody back if it doesn't fly.
