I have a Stanley nickel plated plane that I want to protect with a light oil as I will probably not use it often. It has no wood handles and the base metal shows in afew places. What oils do the plane collectors out there use?I have some boeguard T9 but I feel that it will attract the dust as it is rather sticky.I looked at Hoppes gun oil and it says not for use on nickel plate .Any suggestions welcome .Jako

I use the T9, if you buff it after it dries it won't collect any dust.

Gunsmiths store rifles with light coat of Rem-Oil. It has empirical evidence that a light coat protects best compared to other gun oils.
Europe ,and some Americans, myself included, have switched to Ballistol. It is a well known name (like Windex) in Europe. It's good for wood, metal, rubber, and you can even spray it on house plants to make the leaves shiney. Non-toxic, you can eat a sandwich after contact with this product. It really works well on my guns and tools.
Do a Google search for Ballistol.
