Finally finished the key box for work! Turned out pretty good considering it made up over half of the dovetails I’ve cut to date. 5bf hard maple, 20 hours of shop time and a whole lot of blood (damn these sharp objects) and all for $40. Blown away I was when the boss said that’s what she’d pay for it! Now I just hope it stays together!!!
Now someone wants a footstool and someone else wants a bathroom vanity. I want a hall table. Seems the opportunities for practice are coming quickly. Good thing I get lumber for cheap ’cause I don’t feel right taking money for this yet, but that’ll come. With any luck.
Keepin’ it simple for now. One of the guys asked if I could build a dresser. I told him I didn’t know but was willing to try for $100. He hasn’t gotten back to me, kind of walked away giggling and shaking his head… is that a bad sign?
Anyhow, just wanted to toot about my first paying job and with that done I’ll sign off.
Thanks to everyone for all your kind assistance and advice.
