Hello: I have some Lacewood veneer with PSA backing that I bought before doing any research on Knots. The opinions here say to avoid it but what do I do with it now? Would some additional glue (what type?) or surface prep help? It looks nice so I’d hate to dump it or use it for ………..what would it be good for? Thanks, Duke

I'm sure I'll be of no help but I use alot of Lacewood..
Most of it is about 0.185 inch thick (3/16) and many different widths.
Why you ask? I'd say it was there AND at a good price! Besides I like the way it looks for accents..
I find that it is a very forgiving wood EXCEPT it 'shatters' for no apparent reason... something like Purpleheart does when sawing or routing..
I wonder like you why the 'avoid it'?
Will: I was talking about the ''PSA'' part, when I did a search most threads were saying to avoid ''PSA'' veneer. Have you any luck with pre-glued veneer? DukeKenneth Duke Masters

I used the PSA backed veneer one time. That should say enough for what I think of PSA veneer. I now only use hot hide glue and regular veneer. On large projects I apply the hot glue, let it cool. Then apply the veneer and sort of iron it on. By sort of ,I mean sometimes use an iron, usually a heat gun and laminate roller.
If you use the PSA on narrow ( under 6" wide) you should be okay I think. I should have prefaced my post ,I do not claim to be an expert in veneering. I have done a fair amount. Hopefully someone with much more experience in veneering can help more.
