Does anybody know of a link to the company that makes the modern reproduction of the Holtzplathe (sp?) lathe. It’s that 1880’s lath that is capable of doing extremely complex spirals and other patterns.

What you are looking for is Holtzapffel lathe. You might search The Society of Ornamental Turners.Original lathes of this make can cost as much as a house if complete with cutting frames ,rose engine etc. Many ornamental turners build their own based on metal working lathes
About 20 years ago I heard of an American company that was coming up with a 'modern' ornamental lathe. The company was Lawler Gear Company of Raytown Missouri. I've seen photos of a prototype machine but I don't know if this project went any further.
