Anyone ever use Behlen’s Qualarenu #1?
The description indicates that is effective at reflowing alligatored finishes without stripping.
How did it work for you? Easy to work with?
I have a whole house full of trim that has never seen paint but that needs this type of repair and I do not want to strip the patina.

Kevin,
Qualrenu is a solvent that reamalgamates many finishes (shellac, lacquer, some varnishes), which can repair the "alligatoring". Unfortunately if you use too much, or use it improperly, it will remove the finish.
Follow the directions on the bottle, & use a light touch, and you'll do fine.
Good Luck,
Bob
*Can you give me more information on refinishing technique using this Qualarenu product? Where can I buy it? What are it's hazards? As an alternative to reconstituting the finish, is there a product that will QUICKLY and EASILY remove the finish?I have stair rails and ALL the woodwork around windows and doors plus the windows and doors themselves with alligatored varnish (? - it got milky and tacky when a damp t-shirt was thrown over a rail).
*For the rail you could try Howards Restor-a-Finish which may be very similar to the Qualarenu. It will remove white rings from furniture so might help here. It is available in some Home Depots and often in antique shops or malls.
