I ran into a guy this weekend who has some black walnut logs he cut into 8′ lengths a few weeks ago. He said they are nice straight pieces. What would a good offer be on these logs. I will be loading, hauling and milling. I told him to get a rough estimate on the board feet from the heart wood then I would make him a offer. Thanks, Shane
P.S. This is in Oregon if that makes a difference,.Walnut is pretty common here, so I figure it may.

You really should scale the logs yourself, here's a board foot calculator:

If I was going to load, haul, mill, dry and machine plus burn the waste I'd offer ~.50 BF.
